Say I just purchased a Delta 13 ‘ dual speed surface planer from Amazon. regrettably I hear I missed a sale at Lowes.
I milled some 4 quarter mahogany for a table I am making and it really worked well.

Spitfire, don't fret too much about missing the Lowe's sale. My experience has been that by the time I hear it at Knots, the item is long gone from my "local" (35 miles away) Lowe's. You may or may not have missed out.
Enjoy your planer!

Yup you are right. I really enjoy the delta planer too. As you can tell obviously I am a newbie.
I started milling some wood for several projects follwing steps outlined recently in FWW.
Wow the planer works well and making projects are so much more enjoyable "really staring from scratch"
thanks for your support on this site, it keeps us going.
It's fun, isn't it! I'll never forget the first run for my planer -- I had a bunch of 4/4 oak taken out of an old (old!) oak cabinet I had dismantled. The wood was grey and the grain was raised, it was uuuuugggggggly! ran a piece through the planer and wow! Quite nice. I turned that cabinet into about 75 BF of lumber.
Thanks for the thanks. I've gotten beat up a couple times recently, nice to know I have friends, LOL!

Lotsa people paid $450 at one time. It's a good planer either way. It's got some nice featurs that my 22-560 didn't have, but the DC doesn't seem quite as effective. The extra weight and two speed feature are great.
