Has anyone out there purchased and installed a Accu Head spiral cutterhead from this company in
a Delta 13″ planer ?
At $249.00 it seems like a good deal considering the cost of a 15″ planer with a shelix head here in Australia,
about $3000.
I would be interested in the ease of installation and performance.
Many thanks,
Steevo

At that size the Delta is probably a benchtop machine, so its life is limited, possibly only a few years if it gets a fair amount of use. Chances are that the spiral head won't fit into another machine unless Delta is still selling the same model when you retire the first one, so you have to factor that into the cost. If I were going to invest in a spiral head for a benchtop machine I'd put it in a machine with a reputation for longevity, probably a Makita.
Hey John,
Thanks for the reply. I have had my Delta 13" planer for about 10 years now and have put miles
of timber thru it and never a complaint. The only complaint has been from my neighbour about the
noise level. It is LOUD ! I have seen and heard the 15" planers with a shelix cutter head and the difference
in noise level is quite remarkable. The Delta suits the size of my shop and if I can get my neighbour off
my back for $250 I'll do it. I just need to know if the cutter haed for the 13" planer works the same as the 15"
Thanks.

I have the delta planer and have a problem with getting wood to go threw it. I have put new Blades on it. Have you had any problems with yours
You might consider contacting Accu Head directly to see if they know whether their product is compatible with the specific Delta model you have. As a "third party" supplier, they are likely to have tested it on various machines.
