Delta 12″ Band Saw – Need Rip Fence
Hi Folks,
I have an old Delta 12″ band saw and I’m having a hard time
finding a rip fence to go with it. Delta’s part #28-843.
I’ve been searching the internet for some time and can’t
find the darn thing (or anything else that will fit) anywhere
(eBay, CPO, Delta and many others).
Can anyone offer advice or alternate sources? Or should I just
accept the fact that I had no business buying this thing due
to inexperience / lack of knowledge?
Please don’t say “Yep – they saw you coming!”
I’m well aware of this 🙂
Should I just sell this and upgrade?
Thanks in advance.

You could probably use a Kreg BS fence. They come with lots of extra hardware to fit a variety of bandsaws. Beautifully made also. I've used one on my 14" bandsaw for several years with good results.

Someone may have suggestions for dealers of old parts/accessories. Otherwise, your best bet may be searching for a Delta dealer that might have one left on the shelf. They may, or may not, charge extra for the dust. ;-)
Another alternative might be to find a fence for an older Delta contractor's saw, as the rails and head appear to be the same size. The fence on the 12" bandsaw doesn't use the connecting rod to tighten the rear gripper, so you might be able to cut the contractor's saw fence down to size.
Another alternative would be to simply make your own fence, and use c-clamps to fasten it to the table.
Or, I could sell you the fence from mine, for say, $900, then *I* could upgrade. ;-)
