I am pretty new to this forum and I keep seeing this term ” slainte ” What does it mean?

It means, Petey, that you've been reading too much of my verbal spew. It translates literally to good, and is short for the phrase sliante bheatha--- pronounced slan-ju var-- good life. Slainte.
And here all these years I thought it was just the first name of some eccentric whittler down in Texas...I guess you learn something every day.
