The new year saw the close of Dallas’s biggest hardwood supplier, Blue Linx (formerly Austin Hardwood). Woodworld is expensive and Hardwood Lumber is only slightly less, from what I remember. Are there any other options that I don’t know about for a large selection of rough lumber?
Thanks for any input.

The Blue linx people referred me to Lone Star Hardwood(972.247.3427). I don't know how they compare in price as I was looking for some walnut ply and they only carry lumber. My thought was at least there is a little competition. I also was given a number for a superior forest products. I think it's in Flower Mound but I haven't followed up the lead. (972) 539.6948.
Check out http://www.woodfinder.com In my area, I was able to find several smaller places that had excellent wood that hadn't been on my radar before.
Brazos Forest Products in Grand Prarie has a really slick website, could be worth a visit.

Brazos does have a good selection with reasonable prices. Over in Fort Worth(the good side of the Metroplex) there is Barney Robinson Hardwoods and also Plywood Company of Fort Worth--they also carry a nice supply of lumber in the rough.
I have bought several loads of red oak from RE Sweeney Lumber just east of downtown Fort Worth. The S2S1E (right?? surfaced 2 sides, one edge) was about $2.50 bf. RE Sweeny is a big operation, wood, doors, moulding but happy to sell to homeowners like me.
