I’m getting ready to install a CVG T+G cedar ceiling in my indoor swimming pool room. The pool room is humidity controlled, so I don’t anticipate any moisture issues. The ceiling has 6″ of closed cell foam in it, which acts as a vapor barrier.
I’ve read that cedar can be left completely natural with no problem, or it can be finished with something. Any suggestions or experience is appreciated.
My exterior cedar shingles have Superdeck 1902 red cedar stain/preservative on them and that is one finish option. I used minwax satin finish hand rubbed poly on my interior windows, so that is another option.
Thanks, Paul

I did my gazebo ceiling with it and didn't apply anything. After 7 years it still looks good. It gets a lot of natural humidity but a pool might be more steamy????
Thanks trimjim.
My pool room has a ducted industrial size dehumidifier in it with a digital humidistat, so in theory the humidity will not get above whatever I set it to. It should be fine to leave the cedar unfinished.
Now I'm wondering if I should hand nail with stainless finish nails, or use a gun. What would you recommend?
Thanks, Paul
I used a gun w/ SS nails. They're available for Senco so I'm guessing you can get them for whatever brand you have.trimjim
McFeely's sells SS nails for most guns.
