I am trying to find the best way to cut/scrape/plane/rout a cove into the bottom of an arch that will span 6 feet from the bottom outside tip to the other. The cove needs to be approximately 3″ wide and about 1″ in depth.
Does anyone know of any possible jig that will help me obtain uniform results throughout the length of the piece? Old age and a lack of practice with hand tools has prevented me from starting this portion of the project.
Since I’m using mahogany, I really don’t want to mess it up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Crazy Dude,
I'm sorry but the only answer I can give you is to find a millwork shop with a shaper that can handle custom cuts. Flat coves can be cut on the table saw. Curved coves can be laid in by hand with a round bottomed hand plane. But a curved cove in the bottom of an arch is a shaper job. Good luck. Gary
