Hello I have a project that I’m using Curly Maple for. After I have finished making one of the doors I noticed a stain straight across the piece. I later found out this was caused by the sticking. AS a last resort I tryed using wood bleach to remove it. It helped a little but you can still see it. I set the door aside and moved on. A few weeks later I noced that the door had turned red from the bleach. Is there a solution for this? I did go back to the luber dealer and he gave me another piece of wood. Before I remake the door I thought I would ask this question.

What type of bleach did you use? Also after bleaching anything I give it a good rinsing with water.
Have you tried sanding it at all?
Let me know.

I used Oxalic crystals, I did rinse with fresh water however I did not neutralize it. The instructions said nothing about this. I did sand and it did not help. My wter has iron in it I,m wondering now if that had something to do with it.

I use some white vinegar in the water and then a clear rinse. It is very possible those are mineral stains.
You might also consider the AB two part bleach. It is harsh though and really removes all the color from the wood. It is always a grudging last resort if I use this and to be honest extremely infrequent.

I believe I have taken care of the problem. I ended up trying a product called Rust Out and that took care of most of the red and used the Oxalic crystals, neutralized and rinsed it. So far it looks ok but when it originally turned red it took a feww weeks. Thanks for all the help all.
