Here is a wall cubby for the new mudroom. Let’s say it is 42 x 42 x 10 deep. Please tell us all your most efficient way of cutting the parts and doing the assembly. It has to be better than the way I just did it, with biscuits and screws. What a nightmare!
BTW, here are some specs I used in my hallucination of the project. All parts shown are 3/4″ MDF (I know, it weighs a ton), the back is 1/4″ MDF, and not shown in the pic, is a clear paintgrade “faceframe” of 1″ wide strips, all 1/4″ thick.
Remember, think paintgrade. Screw holes can be plugged and sanded, nail holes can be filled, everything filled, primed, primed again, and sprayed up smooth as a baby’s butt.

My question is how ya gonna get it tween the studs?
Any way glue and nail the box together, glue and nail on the back (this is recessed No?) attach the ff with glue and fin. nails. paint it set it in the wall nail from the inside to the aforementioned question where they are studs..piece o cake.
Oops! Forgot to attach the pic. Here it is.
It is going atop sheetrock, not into a framed opening in the studwall. All sides and top and bottom will be visible.
Did you bisquit in all the little shelves? I can imagine it was a real pain.
I would have cut a 1/4" deep rabet across the verticals to house the shelves. Cut all the rabets across a wide piece, then rip to final widths. Did you glue the back on and nail or screw every few inches? That helps with lateral stbility. It is a must to pilot&counterbore your screws when using MDF or particle board.
That's better..lol. consider that the box is easy enough. Now if ya can make slots in the shelves (horizonta) where the risers intersect 1/2 way across the width, do the same on the risers 1/2 way across and slip them together like dividers in a case of beer (for reference only, do not consume a case of beer using power tools, unless you want to slot something that leaks blood)..a sort of half lap..don't even need glue, a dado blade or router works, don't even have to go nuts cleaning up the ends of the slots.Put the whole shebang in the EASY to do box. a few fin. nails or screws if ya want...and yer done. Let me know if ya need more info.
Micro,
I made something like that this summer for my daughters classroom (she is the teacher) I did it like Sphere suggested ...think it's called double housed dado. Mine had 25- 5x8x12 cubby holes and a rabbited back...with doors on the front. I used 1/2" BB for the cubby holes and 3/4" BB for the outside.
