Looking for Crown molding and valence for kitchen cupboards
Hi, I have have built boxes (made of melamine), for kithchen cupboards and am looking to add a crown molding a the top and a valence at the bottom of my boxes. I cannot find any of these type of moldings at my local hardware store. If anyone has suggestion I’ll appreciate very much !!!

I doubt you would find moldings in a hardware store. Most lumber yards and stores like Home Depot and Lowes carry moldings. They may not have exactly what you are looking for. Another source is through kitchen distributors. The above mentioned also supply kitchen cabinets and accessories. Most of us here are woodworkers so we often make our own moldings, if something isn't available. Plenty of choices on line, too.
Matching colors and providing nailing backers is often up to the installer, if moldings are not available to match the cabinets. Are you matching the melamine or do you have wood or painted trim and doors? I installed some white painted cabinets a while ago and had to paint the crown and light rail, if this is what you mean by valance, to match. I took a drawer front to the paint supplier and they matched the color and sheen for me.
I didn't get a picture of the finished job but I took one of the backer I had to add for the crown. Without a backer, I wouldn't have had room to allow the crown to nail on the face frame. There wouldn't have been any reveal over the doors and the crown would not have been solid. I also added an end skin to finish off the exposed end of that particular cabinet.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thank you for you answer, you picture will be very usefull to me!! I am at my first woodworking project !!
Best of luck, Arc. Might as well start with a big project! I don't know what your design ideas are but in some cases, you don't have to match. A natural maple color was used with white on this kitchen. A more elaborate treatment but attractive. The same beaded molding on the bottom and top was used for the light rail.

Like the lower bands; kinda makes the crown really stand out.
Thanks for the idea,Bob @ Kidderville Acres
A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
You may find a small selection of moldings at a few select hardware stores, and a larger selection at the "big box" stores. Your bio doesn't indicate where you are located, but some of the better lumber yards have a nice array of moldings--but they are usually not cheap. As always, it pretty much boils down to just what you are trying to accomplish and how much time, trouble and money you have budgeted for the project.
