Folks, I have the Bosch 4000. Its table size is 21 ½”-deep by 29″-wide (closed) table surface.
Do folks use a cross cut sled with a machine this size? All pictures/articles I read about these sleds show a much larger machine.
Can I use a cross cut sled with a machine this size?

Johnjingles,
Yes, a cross cut sled can be modified for any TS and is very useful for all. The key difference between your model and other TS is the amount of flat surface before the teeth of the blade. Therefore the sled might be less stable because its base of support is less. You can easily modify the design to accommodate this situation by moving the fence on the sled so more of the sled in on the saw top before the wood makes contact with the blade. I think if you play around with it a bit you'll come up with a comfortable solution.
By all means!!! I used the Bosch extensively for all sorts of cutting and made several cross cut and miter sleds as well as a tapering jig. there very useful as the miter slot is somewhat sloppy.
A cross cut sled is a good way to get accurate and safe cross cuts. I made two cross cutting sleds.
One really large one for up to one half sheet goods and one smaller one for every day cross cutting!

I recommend using a sled on a smaller saw. If built properly so that it doesn't bind or wobble, it is the best way to make a small saw perform like a big saw. The biggest advantage is that you effectively increase the table area you have in front of the blade so you can make accurate crosscuts in wider stock than you'll ever be able to make with a mitre guage.

Ok - it is settled. Day off tomorrow - I am making a cross cut sled. Thanks folks for taking the time.
