Need advice on which dovetail jig to buy. I’m kinda new at woodworking, especially to
cutting dove tails, and I’m too old to start doing it by hand. I want to make some drawers
and a blanket chest or two, also would like to make some boxes.
I like the Leigh d4r, but Porter Cable has re-engineered their OmniJig and it looks ok.
The Akeda co has also come out with a 24″ machine and they seem to be nice too.
My problem, my hands shake a little and i need a machine that does not need a lot of
fine tuning all the time.
THANKS, LOGAN

Logan,
The easiest jig is the Keller jig. Once set up, it's quicker to cut the joints than to mill the lumber for the project. But they're only through dovetails.
For variable spaced and half blind options, I like the Akeda. But it has lots of small parts to snap into place. Built like a brick house but lots of parts.
I haven't seen the redone Omnijig but it's a simple jig to understand. Good luck.
