Hi all,
I’ve never used a Clifton plane before but I will be shortly having just purchased a #7 jointer for $183ish bucks (117 off their regular price). They also have the #3 and #6 significantly on sale. Is this a bargain? Thought others might be interested.
Now all I’ve got to do is figure out how I’m going to lap such a long sole (the glass I use for my scary sharpening isn’t 22″ long).

I do the the #7 on the TS....if its needed..
They appear to be very good buys...and quite heavy.

I've had the Clifton No. 7 for about two years. Great tool. You got a good deal on the price. I'd get the iron scary sharp and not worry about the sole of the plane too much. If you do feel the need to lap it, I'd use a piece of plexiglass with a fine grit from a 36 inch combo belt/ disk sander glued to it. Maybe 3 sheets of 600 grit wet/dry glued end-to-end if you feel the need to have the sole look like a mirror. Maybe even go to 1000 grit. Buy at the auto parts store. (And I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that - if the tool looks good, you may wind up doing better work than you normally would with it). Personal preference. Good luck.

You bet your sweet bipee I'm interested! I just contacted Woodcraft Customer Service (on the national level) to purchase several different models of Clifton planes, and they don't know anything about any sale. Tell me, tell me, tell me do! Where did you get the plane? I am bigtime in the market for a 3, 4, 6, and 7.
MANY thanks in advance. :-) There goes my food budget for the next couple of weeks! <grin>

This link should take you to the Woodcraft “Warehouse Sale” ( also accessible from the Woodcraft.com homepage if this link doesn’t do it):

I saw the Clifton’s listed on sale the other day and when I checked a day later they were posted as sold out. Today when I checked they were listed again.
