Folks,
Had a dream last night: Grandchildren, great nephew and niece, and neighborhood kids, two to twelve years old, were playing on a beautiful, safe old fashioned steam engine train that I had built in our yard. It had levers, a steering wheel, and bells and whistles (literally) on it. And a caboose. In my dreams, the kids were visiting more often because of it.
Any suggestions? I figgured I could use a wooden barrel for the engine, and could turn a pretty smokestack with maybe flowers growin out of it. (that was also in my dream)
These days I dream about alot of stuff I can’t really do anymore, but if I put my mind to it, I can do this.
Thanks,
Lib (strange but harmless)
Fine Woodworking Recommended Products
Rikon 60‑101
The Rikon’s power and capacity are comparable to the other smaller models, but a few issues held it back. Because the chip bag hangs a bit loosely on the canister, it tends to slip off during changes. On the plus side, it’s the only small collector with a 5-in.-dia. intake, so if you discard the Y-junction with the 4-in. ports, and run a 5-in. hose closer to your machines, you’ll add efficiency.
Circle Guide
If you like to draw your designs on paper, you'll find the simple circle guide to be very helpful.
Compass
An essential tool for drawing circles and curves accurately. Also good for layout.
Wen 6321 Belt Sander

Sawstop Miter Gauge
It has a toothed angle-setting rack that is extremely solid, accurate, and easy to use, and it offers all of the features I love in a miter gauge, including the ability to add an auxiliary wood fence, and a flip-stop that will accommodate it.

I have not built this particular plan, but when I use to do craft shows and I used toy plans from this company cherrytree toys. Take a look.

Thanks so much. Owe you one. As a former farmer I might do the tractor instead. Less fun for the kids, but more fun for me.
