I’m planning on making some building blocks for kids toys. I have read several lists of “toxic” woods. What are the “preferred” woods to make toys from? I referring to splinter resistance and “edible”. I have several scraps of maple, oak, hickory, knotty alder, walnut and a few others.

The top 3 would probably be maple, beech and birch. These are also the preferred woods for kitchen/cooking implements.
Ben,
"preferred woods for kitchen/cooking implements."
Also for ice cream sticks, and toothpicks.
