I am slowly but surely upgrading the dust collection in my basement shop and the next step is a blade guard with dust collection for the table saw. My layout and work flow leads me to one mounted on the ceiling as opposed to the swing arm on the Excalibur or the integral Shark Guard. I have not been able to find any aftermarket guards that mount on the ceiling. If anyone has found one please let me know, otherwise I would love to see pictures of other ceiling mount setups before I start designing a home made one.
Thanks much.

Thanks, I missed that when looking at their web site. Have you seen or used one?
Chris
I've used the overarm model but not the ceiling mount. I liked it, better dust collection than my Biesmeyer.

DG,Do you have the one mounted to the right, far end on a 50" set up?
If so,I have the same and it never seems to really grab the dust. Not in twelve years.
Did you try anything on it before you swapped it out? Anything help even a little? Thanks
BoilerEdit-wrong tense. "did you have."

I don't know how the lighting is in your shop, but in one in poorly-lit shop, the guys complained about the shadows the Excalibur created. Don't get me wrong - I'm saying to get better lighting, not to lose the guard.Chris @ http://www.flairwoodwork.spaces.live.com(soon to be http://www.flairwoodworks.com)

Shadows - very interesting. I had not thought of that. I installed new lights in the shop a few months ago but I will double check that the table saw is getting good light from both sides. Good lighting certainly makes a huge difference and does not have to be expensive. I am still fine tuning a couple of task lights but in general I am very happy with the upgrade which was heavily influenced by all the advice I got her on Knots.BTW, I ordered the Penn State guard over the weekend.

This one can also be mounted on the ceiling: http://www.pennstateind.com/store/TSGUARD.html?mybuyscid=3508358089&utm_source=mybuys&utm_medium=webrecs&utm_campaign=mybuyswebrecs

I use the one from penn state industries. It can be mounted either on the floor over the ts or from the ceiling. It comes with the parts to do it either way. I had it on the floor in my house in VA, and from the ceiling in my house in IL. It will be back on the floor now that I'm in PA

If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
