Hi Peter,
I just bought a Danish Rosewood dining table from the 60’s that appears to have a natural finish but I’m not sure the best way to care for it and keep it clean. I’m apprehensive to use Pledge or Old English type commercial products. What would you recommend? I live in Los Angeles.
Thanks

dukesota,
If this was a commercially produced table, the finish is probably a lacquer. The other possibility would be some type of oil finish.
A good approach is the KISS method (Keep It Simple) If the table is showing signs of dirt, a mild dish soap that cuts grease and water is an easy and safe cleaner. I know what you're thinking "It can't be that easy" Apply the solution sparingly and dry behind it as you go.
If you'd like a shine to the surface, a polish like Guardsman concentrate will give it a glow that will last a while. This also is water soluble.
Old English is a solvent (oil) based product that will also clean grease. I just never seemed to need it or Pledge. It always seemed like Linus' blanket to me. It made you feel good but did little else.
Good luck.
Peter
Peter,
It looks like its probably an oil finish so I'll try your KISS method. Thanks for the advice.
Earl
