Yikes, A mini Cujo. Very cute. Here's a helpfull tip. Start playing with paws daily, gradually work up to using a finger nail file on his claws to prove there is no pain in the process. Makes trimming claws on a 90lb.+ dog in the future much easier.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Hi Rich
Raven is gorgeous! He's going to be Large. How will he fit on the bench in the future? :)
A thread about bench dogs/pups would be a nice change.
This is my favourite - Rufus when a pup, taken about 8 years ago. A wonderful companion in the workshop. Here he is acquiring a taste for Jarrah ...

Would be a "shelia" I think ya guys use that term? (Lady puppy)
She is a whopping 7 pounds thus far and I imagine by my summer time she will not be a carry around pup anymore.. Yours a Lab?My daughter is 15 and her mate in life was Shelby a Chesapeake Bay
Retriever, Shelby was actually 7 months older then her. She was wonderful and headstrong and her hips finally gave out to the point she couldn't climb upstairs to lay at the bed of the lady and I. So she cried and cried and we took turns sleeping on the couch. Eventually she couldn't get up and we decided she needed a better end then the life she currently had and put her down. So now all recovered from that we are going anew with this bench dog.Shelby was fond of anything Green and Green chewed her way throught allot of finished stuff I had made.. In fact she is the reason I will soon be replacing my kitchen cabinetry... (once you have eaten through the actual joints the weaken considerably)Thanks for your kind postRich

Rich,
Cute pup! Hope you have a BIG bench. Attached is "Mr. Banjo". Just got him a few weeks ago and he is still a bit wary of the shop noises. We'll have to see....

Allright, I'll bite (ouch!)
This is Woody -- so named because he was the last from a litter of pups at Hearne Hardwoods. Someone put down a deposit but couldn't pick him up.
He does have a number of bad habits. Yesterday I walked into the shop and he was pushing a Wood River plane across a bookshelf I was making. A long discussion about the ethics of copyright infringement ensued. It was very unpleasant.

That is a very cute pup. Tell Woody that his dad gave me a very good laugh!

Cute guard dog, I'll bet your property is safer already. I anyone did break in, they would probably end up playing with her for an hour or so.

Here's a cautionary story for all dog and shop owners.
I was sitting at the bar (to order lunch....) some years ago, and got to talking with the fellow next to me. He asked me what I did, and I replied that I worked in the woodshop. He then replied to the effect of "well, be careful" and showed me what was left of his right (I think) hand - no fingers. All gone right at the first knuckle.
When I asked how he had managed that, he said that his golden retriever had gotten entangled in his legs while he was using a chop saw.
The rest of the story: The man had been a dentist. Needless to say, that was the end of that career. I heard later from someone else that his current occupation was essentially inside a bottle, financed by insurance money from the accident.
You dog owners may wish to rethink your shop companionship policies. No matter how well trained, a dog will never understand the dangers of power tools (or sharp hand tools, for that matter).
Be safe. This from one who takes a large part of safety discussions with a large grain of salt......
Be aware all dog owners!
Not for the faint of heart! Don't watch if easily offended :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2vDVepPRnA&feature=related
Why that was simply disgusting! Revolting! It was just as offensive the second and third times I watched it. I'm going to send it to a bunch of family and friends and see if they think that it's disgusting too.
-Jerry
PS: The lady had funny makeup on... and the five o'clock shadow reminded me of Richard Nixon....
Thank you so much for posting such a offensive link. After I got up off the floor I had to send it to several people. Thanks
Fine looking animal- but can you tell more about the breed, which is unfamiliar to me?
I post pictures of Mr Wadkin. R. Dog, bench hound of note, now living out the rest of his retirement in Zimbabwe, and a legend in his own time.On the word of command "Hup!" he would mount that bench, but only after it was clear of dust or tools. Fearless hunter of wild pigs (not to be confused with feral porkers), exterminator of sundry monkeys etc but drew the line at porcupines-surely a wise beast.Sadly missed .
Apologies to those who have seen him before, here.
Hi Philip
While I have fond memories of Rhodesian Ridgebacks, yours sends a chill up my spine. Gawd, I would not want to have a staring competition with him! I'd need a change of trousers!

She is a German Shepard.. A Woman at work and her husband breed them. So I got a fair price for her. (really just the part of bills for Vet visits and shots).Capt. Rich Clark

Rich, your bench pup is just arf-ful. I'm betting the tension adjuster at the far end wags on its own! ;-)
Sorry, couldn't resist. Cute pup.
Hry All,
This ismy shop dog, (also canoeing buddy). he is a Hungarian Sheepdog, a Puli.
He is very good at chewing off cuts and an excellent watch dog.
Canoedog
Can that one swim? (;)And: is the breed related to the Giant Poodle? And how often does he get a perm?Philip Marcou
Hey,
The breed is very old from Hungary, related to dogs bought from the steppes of Asia
by the Magyars when they moved into the area know known as Hungary.
They are outstanding herding dogs and very intelligent.
He swims pretty well, but his coat gets very heavy, so I have a life jacket he wears.
He loves to go canoeing with us, and drves me nuts if he sees me working on building paddles or working on the canoes, he thinks he's going and goes and sits in the truck for a hour or more!
The coat is called corded, and is actually pretty easy to keep up other than washing which is about a 2-3hour deal and then all night to dry in the kennel with fans.
Canoedog
Your dog looks like a "Rasta" smoking the Ganga kinda dog.
Watched the AKC meet in NY over the holiday and one made the finals in best of show. Looked like a shiny black mop. Didn't win tho. We voted for it, was a cool dog.Capt. Rich Clark
Hate to see him after he lays down in a saw dust pile..
Edward
Does he like Whoopie Goldberg movies?
He actually likes sports and war movies!
He has been a joy to have around the shop. Other than the coat picking up all the
sawdust and then dropping it off in the house.

We hardly ever went to a movie.. Cost of a movie fed us and the new Daughter..
I saved up money on the side and took my bride to see the first Alien movie. She WAS NOT IMPRESED!
VERY nice Pup! A House dog I would suggest he/she should be.
Animals are special to me but I have to say I eat meat on occasion.
A Lion outside and romes the Shed. Guard dog to hear the Lion attack and warn you!
