I’m looking for a cannister filter for my 50-760 DC. Anyone know if there are places (other than Wynn) that sell them? Bonus if I can find them here in the Great White N.
More bonus marks if anyone has already compared shop air quality before/after conversion from a bag.
thanks,
Andy

Andy,
I'll go for the bonus marks: the cannister has reduced the amount of fine, chalky dust in my shop. It has also greatly increased the performance of my system. I keep the filter clean by running the shop vac around inside it once a week or so. The one downside of the cannister is the increased noise level of the system...but... I always wear hearing protection and it does not seem to bother the dog....

Thanks Jerry. Not concerned about the noise as I wear plugs in the shop. What kind of material and what surface area is it that gets better performance with better filtering (than the bag)? Andy
Andy,
My cannister came from Jet and is labeled "Dust Dog". No clue as to the filter material. IIRC the ad from Jet claimed that the "V weave" pleated design had four times the surface area of a conventional bag. I have not for a second regretted purchasing the cannister.

Thanks for the info Jerry. I'm getting more concerned about my shop environment the more I research the issue. From my observations, long term exposure to wood dust appears to induce an irrational preoccupation with primitive woodworking tools as well as verbal diarrhea. Wouldn't want that condition. ;) Andy
Yes, L-N/LV syndrome and Cherubini disease are dangerous!
Please be careful.

Andy,
I also have the Delta 50-760. One option I see is that you can augment it with an air purifier as Delta calls them. I'm talking about an overhead air filter that will capture/minimize the fine powder not captured by the DC. The 50-760 advertises that it has 1 micron capablility and sports a felt bag which works quite well for me. In my woodshop I generally operate only one tool at a time but on occasion I have two running. Haven't experienced any issues yet as the longest run in my system is less than 8'
Another possibility is that Delta has just come out with a new model (50-720 as shown in the latest FWW) which looks very similar to the 760 and has a cannister type filter. From initial observations I think that this cannister could be used on the 760 but I can't confirm it. I have been unable to find anything on their WEBsite. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this.
Guess I don't get any bonus points but wanted to alert you as to some possibilities.

A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
Thanks Bob. I actually have the overhead Delta air cleaner as well. I think both tools work ok.I would like better capture at the tools (I'm building a brett-like guard for the saw) and a better feeling that dust is not getting through the DC or the shop vac (heppa). Already use the central vac quite a bit as it is by far the best option where such a small hose is practical. Perhaps I'll contact Delta and ask about the cannister as an upgrade for our DC. Andy

In the Great White N as requested. Have no idea if they are any better or worse than another brand.
Wow, thanks QC. There's one in town here and I didn't think to check. I might make the trip with some measurements. Andy
