Re-visiting the camphor wood thing.
I have just joined this list and the FWW website. I have started looking for camphor. This stuff is hard to find, I did see one site on the web but they are on vacation from 25 Aug. through the 14th of Sep..
I don’t have any problem about waiting but I thought I would ask if there is any other sources. I just want to make some small things so I don’t need too much.

Hi Waleye,
Your profile doesn't mention where you are, but you don't seem adverse to purchasing via the web.
Gilmer in Portland, Oregon, most often has nice Camphor, usually burl. Some for turning, some for cutting into shop-sawn veneer--which is what I most often do with it.

Here's the latest slabs I bought from them:

Hey, Mike,
Those are some good looking pieces that you have there. I need just a small amount and I buy from the web quite often. I am in Germany working for the military.
I found what I want at the Gilmerwood site. I will see if they can ship it to me as shelve boards, I understand there is a problem sending wood that has not been milled.
Thanks for the tip,Wally Coffman
Hi Wally, Glad you found something. I assume they will do as needed. They do ship to Europe often.
Take care, Mike
The person that posted the url said that they ship to Europe quite often, the url is

I wanted to exchange some email with them to make sure that we can get it over here but I did not have time today, in 4 minutes it's quiting time.Wally Coffman
