I can’t seem to find my Fine Homebuilding or Fine Woodworking issue that had an article about a good user friendly CAD program with a free trial. Can anyone help me here? I know it was in the last 12 months.

I'm not sure if this is what you're thinking of, but Google's Sketch-Up seems to be the popular CAD program right now. The basic version is free or I believe you can buy the advanced version. I use a 3D modelling program called Rhinoceros 3D.

Can you hold the laser level while I shave?
Look in the Project Plans/CAD Software on this page.

I've used several. First autocad is a great package, but you almost get a college degree learning to use it. Too complicated. I also used e-cabinents software which had good qualities, but limited obviously in that its built around the cabinet business. I'm now using google sketcup (free) and thats the one for me. Easy to learn once you have the basics. Good educational videos on here and youtube, and good support here! If you have a question they will answer. Finally you can't beat the price!!!!!!!
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
The best article on free or free trial CAD is in Woodworker's Journal.
Sorry I forgot the issue on my first post. It's in February 2007.
