hey all, I’m about to purchase a macbook and need help with its capacity etc. I will be starting a cabinet making course in about a year and I dont want to buy a new laptop because it’s not powerful enough and doesn’t support the programs whatsoever . any tips will help that you!

I don't think your cabinet making course will challenge your new Mac. If you're going to be carrying your Mac a lot, consider the 13" screen. You can always add a larger monitor.
If you know where you're going to be taking the cabinet making course, check with them for what software you will be using and see what it's requirements are. Sketch Up is a popular program. It can run on a ChromeBook, so your Mac should be more than enough (https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup-web/sketchup-web-hardware-requirements). It can also run in your browser. I'd check with Sketch Up to make sure it works on a Mac with the new Apple CPU.
