I want to make a wall hung curio display cabinet with glass doors and shelves. I want to light it, but I don’t like the electrical cord hanging down to an outlet.
My question. Is there any other way to light the cabinet besides 110 AC.
Thanks, Dave

I'd say no, there isn't a practical way to light a cabinet without house power. The issue is that people expect lights to stay on for a long time, and batteries die under that use. Here's three possible options for you:
1) Use a spotlight on the ceiling. You can bury the spot and its wiring in the ceiling for a very clean look.
2) Put an outlet in the wall behind the cabinet. You can recess it far enough to be able to put a plug in it and still have the cabinet sit flush with the wall.
3) Drape the power cord down the surface of the wall using the really thin cable intended for loudspeakers. You can find stuff that is effectively 12 gauge wire but only .008" thick. That's so thin enough that you can cover it with wallpaper or feather over it with drywall compound. For example, google with "flatwire". The insulation isn't rated to carry 110 volts, so I'd use it with low-voltage lighting, and run it at 12 volts.
Regarding Jamie's idea #2, an outlet is made for that, called a clock outlet. The outlet is set back from the face of the box deep enough to plug in a plug. You'll need a deep box. It's made for installing behind an electric wall clock, so the cord doesn't show.
