Hello to all… I am investigating cabinet design software. I am a custom woodworker in business & up to this time I have been doing a few cabinets at a time, say for a bathrooms or a kitchen island, fireplace mantels, etc. I have been getting requests for estimates on home office cabinetry, & of course, whole kitchens. So I need some type of software for designing these, I have seen cabinets plus & others on the web, but I don’t know what to look for, any feedback Guys & Gals? Thanx again…

good luck mark
Really free? I looked in there and really free? Have you gotten one for free and tried it out? How did you like the system? I have been trying to find one that is easy to use.

Yes, it's really free. Works great, too. There is an option to order from their sponsors (that's how it's free) via the software, but it's not a requirement to use the program, and there aren't a bunch of ads in your face. Btw, by ordering through the software, you are getting an "extra" discount on all the items (and there are TONS). No minimum orders, either. On the stuff I've ordered (Euro hinges, slides, etc.) they've had the lowest price, so I went with them.
Can't hurt to try the software, you've got nothing to lose...
Btw Mark, did you have to request the 3.2 upgrade, did they send it to you or was it just a download?

yes free and richard said it all, they even have a forum, I run a pro woodshop and have started to buy some of my hardware from the ecabinetsystems co,op and havent had any problems. and the program keeps getting better.
good luck mark
It really is free, and it really is awesome! I'm not a pro cabinet maker, but I am making some for a bar in my house and a built in cabinet/bookcase and this software makes the design and layout so easy. Once you finish the design you can run a report that will tell all the material you will need along with all the dimensions. You can even adjust things like, depth of dado cut, width of face frames and on and on and on. I HIGHLY recommend it!
That sounds great I'm going to see about getting one!

The software came in the mail today! I'm going to install it soon and check it out, can't wait!
Installed the software..... it told me I had to free up some to have it running... did that and still said not enough...did some more...hey that thing does take alot! Couldn't run it on the older computer so installed it on the newer one and it worked, but it did slow down the other programs... Everyone were kicking my rear end for that and I had to pull it off..... There is too many things in there and I don't need almost all that stuff.....
I dropped this query into this thread a couple of posts back, but alas, I got no responses.
Since I really would like to know if there is anything out there, I am printing it here again:
Re: Êwww.eCabinetSystems.com
I checked out their web page, and unfortunately they don't have a version for Mac, which is what I have.
Does anyone have recommendations for software that will run on a Mac?
Thanks............. a second time.
take a look at this

Alas, the link in my previous posting brings up an error page.
This should do the trick

"Design Intuition" is the name of the software, and it runs on Mac OSX.
How big of of computer systems do you guys have? Any problems running the program? Do you use a graphics card they suggest? Any other comments? How long did it take to get the software? Thanx again...

Jim,
Well, now that you've asked that question, I can't find the paperwork the program came with :). I'm running a P4 2.26 Ghz w/512 megs of RAM. Video card is an nVidia GeForce 4200 w/128 megs of on-board RAM. The program runs as smooth as can be on my system. I built my computer approx. a year and a half ago, and the stuff I have was about 6 months or more old at that time (when I build a system, I try to stay 2 or 3 notches below the latest "all the rage" technology). So, I'd assume that as long as your system is around 2-3 yrs old, you shouldn't have any problems. Now, having said that, I'm running two 80 gig hard drives in a RAID stripe configuration, which makes stuff run about twice as fast as it normally would (not always, but close enough). Only thing I can suggest is that you get the software and give it a test drive.
If it doesn't run smoothly, then maybe it's time to spring for a new system...;)...would be a good excuse, no?
