Hello,
I’m looking for a commercially available benchtop of laminated maple, ready to install. Preferred length is 72″, width can be either 24 or 30″, and I’m trying to find something thicker than 2-1/4″… why? Because thats what we want for this application. 3″ would be about perfect. Building it from scratch is not an option in this situation.
Any leads would be welcome.
Thanks,
Monte

Hire a cabinetmaker to build one, it's a fairly simple job.

If you're close to central Wisconsin, let me know. I have a source that can provide a great hard maple or other wood table top made to your specs.
I purchased a 3" top from perfect plank in N. California. They have different grades. I believe mine was their "wildwood" which was finger jointed and not matched for color or figure. My numbers showed it cheaper than my purchasing the wood.

My bendh top was FREE. I got it from the dumpster at a store called ,"The House of Doors". Their job is to sell and replace commercial and residential doors. The door I got for my bench is a thick fire rated solid core door that was once in a movie theatre. It weighs a ton and was so large I was able to cut it to desired size and eliminate the door hardware holes in the process.
Check your Yellow pages for a similar business.

Thought I was pretty clear... laminated maple, extra thick (close to 3" or better)Never seen nor heard of a door meeting that description. For the others... lets say for the purpose of this discussion that either I don't have a 'local' cabinetmaker, or don't want to go thru them. This is something I'm trying to find out for some friends for a particular situation. They have no wood worker tools/skills, no desire to get them (not really for a woodworking bench anyway), and they are spread out over a large enough area that some of them may not have a local shop down the street or across town to just go special order one from.Where can I *order* and buy one from? i.e. does anybody know of a supplier by name or website? A while back I thought I had found a site w/ bench tops meeting the description, but when I went back to try to re-find it via Google, etc. the thickest/biggest I came up with was a) Grizzly, at 1-3/4 by whatever size, or b) Woodcraft, at 2-3/4" but only 24"w X 60"l... not quite long enough. There were others, but none in the 2-3/4"+ range of bench top dimensions. Thanks,Monte
This is the supplier I see being sold locally. Never bought from them but the product looks decent. They don't have a price listed for 3" thick but it does say they will quote you a price for any size and they specifically call out a 3" thick kitchen island on the page in the following link.

Hope this helps.
