   Just a bit more and you can get a very nice block plane from Lee Valley.

   I second Samson's vote. That little LN block plane is a jewel. It sees more use than any plane I have. Obviously LN stuff is expensive. But I think that one is around $85. You absolutely cannot go wrong with that choice.

   I'd get the Low Angle if you can.

   I'll second Three Putt's seconding of Samson's vote for the Lie Nielsen low angle block.

   It's just over $100 in bronze and just under $100 in iron.

   The group has decided to go in the direction of a gift cert. to Lee Valley to let him picK what he wants...

   Now I have to go raise enought money for him to have something decent...
