Check out the zip code saw from Sears. It fits all of your specs and is currently on sale for $949. There have been several favorable reviews and threads on this saw here and at Woodnet.net. If I were in the market for a hybrid saw, it would be my first choice. But with a Delta contractor, Uni, Delta 10" job site saw, there is no more room.
"zip code" saw? That's a new one for me. What does the moniker refer to?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
forestgirl; The nickname refers to the model#s they give there saws, 22114 -22124. They sound like zipcodes. View Image

Ahhh, too clever by half!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
I got onto MapQuest and found out that 22124 is in fact the ZIP code for Oakton, VA, while MapQuest doesn't know about 22114.
Maybe we should call the top-of-the-line Craftsman hybrid the Oakton. :)
I bought the Sears (Craftsman Professional) "zip code" table saw. I'm very happy with it except for two details.
One very small complaint is the catches on the plastic motor cover under the right side. They are stupid and I'll replace them with something better when I get the time. It's really not a big deal, but annoying if I need to open the cabinet.
The other thing is the blade guard. I'm sorry, but it just is crappy. I replaced it with the overhead guard with dust collection from Penn State Industries. I like it.
The Beisemeyer fence is GREAT!

take along a vernier caliper when yer comparing saws,
The 5/8 arbor may be substantially less that accurate....

Another vote for the 22124 "zip code" saw (aka hybrid, aka cabinet saw "light")...however you slice it, it's been a great saw for my needs.

How is the mitre guage on that thing? The one I saw at Sears looked really chintzy, but then again, the nice Bies fence wasn't even securely attached and the wings were not even close to flush-mounted.
It was probably more due to the fact of poor assembly, but the saw didn't impress me much in person. But maybe that is the problem w/ Sears; no attention to detail when displaying their items so they appear cheap.
The basic part of the miter gauge on the 22124 is average, but it does come with a nice 24" fence and a hold down clamp. Still not as good as my Incra V27 or my EB-3 ;). There are two Sears stores near me. The saw looks like crap at one store...it's filthy and just looks bad. At the other store it looks pretty good....wonder which store sells more saws? Wonder why they haven't caught on to the correlation yet? Lowes or HD are no better than the first store, but Woodcraft does a nice job with their displays. It's hard not to let the display deter you....but, look past the dirt and the poor assembly. My 22124 replaced an excellent GI 50-185 contractor saw, and I'm happy with the switch. Ironically, the GI's miter gauge was better than the 22124's. The two saws cut about similarly, but the features of the 22124 offer alot of advantages over any contractor saw. It's alot more stable too...I never even thought of the GI as "not" stable until I got the 22124 up and running...it weighs 125# more than the GI and has a smaller footprint...it feels more like a cabinet saw. It also has better DC, wider CI surface, easier to align trunnions, a very good blade, fold up outfeed, laminate extension table, a serpentine belt that has better power transfer, and an in-home warranty. Other than that they're about equal...;). ...oh,the GI's chrome handles on the handwheels are nicer...

The miter gauge on my 22114 is OK, but I'm probably going to replace it with one of the Incra gauges when budget allows. I too was put off the "zip-code" (I love that!) line of saws when I saw them in the store... they felt clunky and poorly built. Then I got to chatting with one of the salespeople in the tool department, who mentioned that he had assembled the display saws. Since the guy was clearly not the sharpest tool in the drawer, that gave me more confidence. :-) Properly assembled and with a coat of wax on the table, it's smooth as a nice 18-year Macallan.
Fern,
I just saw your post. If you happen to be located in the Montreal area, I might have something that suits your needs. I have a one year old Ridgid TS 3650 table saw that I want to sell, in order to upgrade to a 3HP saw. Let me know if you are interested. It fits all of your criteria, except that the rails are 36 inches, and the dust collection port is 2.5 inches.

I bought the Jet Hybrid saw and am very happy. Mine has the sliding table which puts me above $1000 but you can be under $1000 without that option.
