I was looking on e-bay and there was a hand plane that was being sold as a Birmignham B the size was a #8 and it looked just like an older Stanley #8 I had not heard of that brand before and was wondering if anybody here had, looked on Wiki and found nothing.
Thanks

The Birmingham plane was the first of the Bailey pattern planes with a lateral adjuster. It's thought that Leonard Baily may have been one of the principals in the Birmingham Plane Company during one of his multiple splits with Stanley. Stanley basically put Birmingham out of business with patent infringement litigation.
I once had one of their #8 planes. The castings weren't very good, a bit crude. The lateral adjuster is interesting, though.
Thanks, I had not heard about them before.
