James,
Your friend has roughly 2.2 board feet of lumber.
Depending on quality of the figure, density of the eyes, and whether or not it is sapwood on both faces, it could be worth from $10 to $150. Pics would help.

Edit:
Frankfive is right - I made a mathematical error. Just over 4 b/f

James,
I'm coming up with about 4 board feet. Around here (NJ) that would go for about $40.
1.25" x 7" x 72" = 630" / 144" = 4.37 bd ft 4.37 x $12.00/bdft =$52.50
Depending on the grain and overall quality of wood it's worth around $50.00.
"1.25" x 7" x 72" = 630" / 144" = 4.37 bd ft"
If it's not surfaced, yes. If it's surfaced, it's likely to be sold as nominal 6/4 X 7(or 8) X 72 = between 5 and 6 bf.

4/4 Birdseye Maple goes for about $15 bf in my area.
boards here about $12/bf
but just this week priced out exhibition grade for a stock. Thats 2.75 thick but still not that long. $475 wholesale.
Devils in the details.
Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
Here in NH good 6/4 birds eye costs 9.50 per bf and best 6/4 costs 13.00 per bf
I have used alot of it..
Any know aprox. worth? You will never know untill you cut it up to the sizes you want AND then try to finish the surface with whatever tools you have. I have had more that a few problems with that wood! Though I love it!
Had the 'eyes' pop out or crush.. Even with a properly sharpened hand scraper.. You will never know untill you 'work' it...
Beautiful wood though!
