I stood in awe while looking at this bundle of honduran mahogany, the largest were 16/4 40″+ wide. Sorry for the poor image quality, I took it using my camera phone.

Macbeath Hardwoods in San Francisco.
Figures... Along with the wood will be the " MacBeath Hardwoods Price $$$"
it's hit or miss, but I agree that they can get a little pricey at times. Also, they have no figured woods, except in the veneers of course. But overall, I find that the quality is consistent, and if you know what the going prices are you can get some fair deals, just never a "good deal" :)
Just out of curiosity what was the board foot worth?
I didn't ask... wanted to, but I was running late for another meeting. If I was to guess based on thickness and wide board premium, I'd probably guess $20 a bd ft.
I have to go back up there next week, I'll ask them.
I guess I'm lucky then I just bought a nise board 2 1/2" thick, 20" wide, and 14' long. I paid $4.50 a board foot. One of the benefits of living in Mexico. I'm planning to make a bar top with it for my house. Do you think I should leave the board wide or rip it into strips and relaminate for strength?
