I am ready to equip myself for HVLP conversion spraying. I would appreciate suggestions for a good(not necessarily the least expensive) source for the equipment I will need. I am particularly interested in having the opportunity to talk with knowledgable sales reps when i am making my dicision as to what to buy.
Many thanks!! Knots members are so willing to help and Iappreciate it.

I think that you will be hard pressed to find more knowlageable people than on this Forum. Post a question for recomedations and intended uses.
If the people selling the machines were pros on how to use them they would be finishing pianos and fine furniture for a lot of money. For furniture a Binks conversion seems to be the best according to consensus. The Porter Cable is well reguarded for the price as well.

respectfully disagree, http://www.homesteadfinishing.com offers a far more comprehensive forum for finishing subjects. Of course, Jeff Jewitt is a frequent contributor to Fine Woodworking, and has a great new book out that is published by Taunton, and the forums share many of the same members. So maybe it just a matter of focus, with Homestead doing all finishing all the time.
Don't think you could go wrong with a Binks, but Asturo and Accuspray guns will turn out best in class quality as well.
Well said Jeff. I coldn't remember the site!
I also learned a whole lot from automotive finishing forums. Those guys really know their guns, and their work is more simular to wwing than you might think.
Mikeplease excuse my spelling.
Thanks Jeff and Mike,
I have had several posts on this forum and have received a ton of information on the subjects I have sought.
Now I need suppliers. As the saying goes, "if one has only one from which to choose, he has no choice". I am familiar with Homestead and have gone to their site. I would like another supplier as an alternative with which I can discuss equipment and/or purchase
Some of the best prices for conversion guns are on Automotive related sites.
I bought my Fuji 4 stage from Tool Crib.
Mikeplease excuse my spelling.
you are right about the automotive finishing. I did a fair amount of that in my youth and learned that a good finish is achieved in the surface prep. Those guys really know how to dial in a gun as well.
Some suppliers to check with include;
http://www.homesteadfinishing.com
http://www.finishsystems.com
http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net
http://www.spraygunworld.com
http://www.airmaxproducts.com
http://www.1st-in-hvlp.com
Once you have identified the type of system that fits your needs, you can get feedback from other equipment users on the forum.

In addition to the other recommendations you've received so far, I'd encourage you to look at http://www.compliantspraysystems.com

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
