I am building a wardrobe closet for my office at work. I am using construction grade 3/4″ plywood for function above aesthetics. The wardrobe closet is about 6′ tall, 3′ wide and 2′ deep. What is the best joint for joining the carcass? I do have a plate joiner for butt joining with biscuits and a router to make rabbits. Thank you for the advice.

Since you are not using better materials , whats wrong with glue and screws?
Since you have a biscuit joiner go with a few for alignment and glue and screw it from there.

Thank you both. I am going with the biscuit joiner, glue and screws.

Just remember to but the screws between the biscuits ;)

I don't know what your dimensional limitation/requirements are but you might consider making your wardrobe 4' wide instead of 3'. You get an extra 12" inside and you don't wind up with a 12" X 8' scrap piece of ply. As for joinery, if it were me, I would rabbet the sides to accept the back and top so that you hide some of the ply edges. I use glue and 1 1/4" brads in rabbeted/grooved ply case joinery.
What kind of door(s) are you planning to make? And how are you planning to attach them to the case? I have some suggestions if you're still considering how to proceed.
Best of luck with you project. Sounds like fun.

I do have dimension limitations and I am maximizing the size of the closet for the space and to get through the door. I will dado the interior to the carcass and I like your reason for a rabbit joint for the top and bottom I presume. The doors will be reinforced 3/4 plywood. I am not going for beauty here, just pure functionality. Since I am a blue collar worker and the piece will get banged up at work, 3/4 construction plywood seems a inexpensive option.
If you have anything else to add to the construction, I am all ears.
Thank you,

Actually, now that I hear how you will use this closet, I wouldn't bother with the joinery I suggested. Just go with the glue and screws. It's gonna be a bear to do this alone, however. I suggest you get someone to help you with assembly.. and if you have a brad nailer I would use that and a speed square to tack it all up square.. and then slam some 1 1/4" screws in all around. That door is gonna take some serious hinges. I would consider some full overlay euro hinges and use three per side. The only hitch is you have to be able to drill 35mm holes to seat the door portion of the hinge. Take care..
