Hello Everyone,
I am going to buy some 48″ clamps to use for cabinet making. Which do you prefer – Bessey or Jorgensen? Best place to buy? Thanks for your input.

I prefer the Jorgy's. It's a toss-up when it comes down to it. The Jorgy's have a slide bar that allows the clamp jaws to slide while it keeps the clamp upright and square on the table.
I got mine at Amazon, but they are not listed in a catalog I just got yesterday???
Good luck...

I have an assortment of both and prefer the Jorgensens. The Besseys often (always) take two hands to tighten, and have a propensity to move the stock as the clamp is tightened. The Jorgensens also seem heavier for the same $$$. What makes using the Besseys particularly frustrating is their tendency to slip off the work even when there is a fair amount of pressure being applied - which is especially tormenting if one is clamping several edge glued boards for a table top.
