Hi all,
My local Home Depots just put their K-body clamps on clearance (with a savings anywhere from 5$ on the 50″ to $10 on the 24″). Took the plunge and bought my first 4. Happy hunting.

I saw another post over a week ago about the Bessys being on sale at HD. I checked it out and bought what they had left which was four 36" clamps marked $10.00. When I checked out they scanned at $5.00 each. Nice surprise.

The other Bessey clamps (Tradesman clamps I think) had been on sale for a while. At least here in Syracuse, the K-Body clamps are newly on clearance.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the K-body clamps drop in price in the near future. The new Jorgenson Cabinet Master work as well or better, have a bigger clamping face and are about 10% cheaper for the 12" model. They also only go up in price by a couple of dollars for each additional 6" increment, which makes a huge difference when you're looking at buying a 48" clamp!
I currently have 4 12" K-body and 4 25" K-body clamps. They work well and do the job as advertised. However, when it comes time to add to the collection, I will almost certainly be buying Jorgenson Cabinet Masters because I'll get more clamp for the money.

Ron
Ronin,
I recently bought 4 - 36" and 4 48" from Lee Valley "Cabinet Master" clamps. Lee Valley regular prices were better than any one else I could find.
ASK
Must be a local thing. I got excited and checked my local HD here in VA, and they knew nothing about it. They are still regular price. Oh well you can't win em all.
Here, the Bessey bar clamps (at least the Tradesmen) sold out about a month ago, but the K-bodys just went on sale this weekend. It's certainly nationwide, if your local HD doesn't have them marked on sale it's probably just because they haven't gotten to marking them. I'd bet that if you asked the Tool Dept mgr to check, he'd find it in his missives from the home office and give you the sale price.
I checked my nearest HD Saturday afternoon, and the K-bodys are on sale, but it's not 'clearance' prices like the Bessey bar clamps were! Many of the bar clamps were 60%+ off ($24 clamps for $10), the K-bodys are more like 20%. The 40"ers were $33, marked down from $40, the 31" were $30 down from $38. But, these command 80% of retail price even secondhand on ebay, so I suppose 60% off was too much to hope for.
They also had some more of the 24" Tradesmen that they'd dug out from somewhere for $9 each (down from $18), so I picked those up too ...

I just picked up four of the 24" K body clamps. For some reason, these had the most discount, almost 30%. They were $25 from $35. It looks like the shorter the clamp, the larger the discount. I wanted a couple of 50"ers but those were $40 from $45, not a huge discount. I agree with others, for $40 I would buy the Jorgies. I'll keep my eye on the prices.
I found the same thing for price here (southern Indiana). What I also found was that here they have already started stocking the Jorgenson Cabinet Master, so it looks like the k-bodys are gone and the Jorgy's are in.We are the people our parents warned us about. J. Buffett

"it looks like the K-bodies are gone and the Jorgy's are in."
Mike, if you purchase a Jorgy you will understand why. It was, is and will continue to be a better clamp (unless Bessey up-grades) and the price was always less. This is of course just my opinion from having used both. The Jorgy has more clamp surface, more clamp power and that in-genious little foot on the end that allows one person to slide the rear jaw with one hand without having to lift the clamp from the assembly table.
That means a lot when working alone as most of us do. Sometimes the difference between a "hit and a miss" on a large glue job. My two Bessey's work well, just not as well as my 12 Cabinet-Masters with more on the way from LV.

Thanks for the heads up. I was less than optimistic about finding this bargain at my local HD store.. so I didn't even go until this past weekend.
Found 4 24" Bessey K's for $25 each. Snapped 'em all up. Then today I saw them in the Rockler Catalog for $35.99.
Wonder if HD is getting out of Besseys?
