I have a Posermatic 66 and bought an aftermarket Beismeyer (sp?) splitter. It is just enough off that the lumber binds between the splitter and the fence. The fence is parallel to the miter slots. I called Beismeyer and they were puzzled by the problem. They even suggested grinding part of the splitter to give it more room. I am hesitant to do that.
Could I safely shim the splitter “out” from the saw frame to push it more in line with the blade? I can’t seem to find how to do this. or if I could shim the blade out but that would require 5/8″ large washers and I don’ t know if that would be introducing another “wabble” into the blade.
any ideas?
thanks

To start out, the fence needs to be parallel to the blade. The fence, the blade, and the miter slot should all be parallel to each other, but the important alignment in this case is that the fence and blade be parallel.
A second item to look at is the width of the blade, I'm pretty sure that the splitter will only work with a full thickness blade, a thin kerf blade will cause problems because the kerf will be too narrow.
All saws have some way of fine tuning the alignment of whatever is attached to the splitter mounting point and the blade. On the Powermatic, it appears that the mounting point is a large threaded sleeve that can be rotated and then locked to adjust the alignment. If your new splitter is mounted on this sleeve then you should be able to loosen it and adjust the position of the splitter.
