I’m getting ready to build my own stained cabinet doors and want to make them out of beadboard. problem is that i can’t find non MDF/PVC 8×4 sheets that have a nice finish with distinct grooves. the stuff at my local stores look cheap. Can anyone help with a suggestion?

Why not use real beadboard (T&G slats) and stain them as you like?

Everything fits, until you put glue on it.
i thought of that, but i want to continue the T & G on the side panels and i'm conserned that the slats over long runs will show uneven gaps (unlike the beadply). Thanks!
I've done beadboard panels before and have never seen nice ply beadboard -- the grooves are not nearly as deep, or as well-defined as they are on true beadboard. If you want to keep things from moving in the center of the panels, just glue the T&Gs together and let the panel float as would a solid panel.Mike HennessyPittsburgh, PAEverything fits, until you put glue on it.
my concern is that when i use the T&G bead on the side panels (that are will be 3' x 8') that the glued slats will all not be equal. Thanks!
Maybe I'm not explaining well . . . If the slats are glued together, they will act as a single panel and the beads will remain of equal width. All movement will take place at the edges, across the grain. You'll need to make sure to allow for it by letting the panel float, tack it at the center, and let the edges move in the stile. You will need to pre-finish the panels so unfinished sections do not appear as the wood shrinks.Mike HennessyPittsburgh, PAEverything fits, until you put glue on it.
