This is a question for John White:
I needed to resaw some wood for my current project so I built your tension gauge for setting my bandsaw blade tension. I set it up per your instructions, but after the initial .005″ setting nothing happened. Well I should not say nothing happened; I turned the adjustment knob so far that I stripped the threads on the adjustment nut and in turn some of the threads on the adjustment rod and ALMOST compressed a brand new Carter tension spring before I decided something was wrong (I did not know the threads had stripped until I tried to back off of the tension settiung I had gone to).
Do you have any idea why this gauge did not work. I have a 14″ Delta bandsaw that has a 1/2″ Timberwolf blade recommended for resawing.
Regards,
Terry

Ouch. If you don't mind me saying, I don't think that you should have been able to strip the threads with just your hand strength. Maybe if you had a wrench on the tension adjustment know, but not with bare hands.

I had stripped the threads on the tensioning rod and nut on my 14” Delta bandsaw, seems easy enough to do by hand. Now I lubricate the threads with lithium grease and pay more attention when I’m tensioning the blade.
