Hi all! I’m not looking for a blade recommendation so much as an explanation of the various types of tooth configurations. There are so many choices (skip, hook, alternate, etc, etc, etc and so on!) I cant seem to keep straight which one is for what? Why would one choose one style over another? Are some more useful for resawing vs ripping vs cross-cutting? Does a particular style work best for narrow blades vs wide? Why so many teeth on a carbide blade?

You might find this useful Chris. It's a tooth pattern description and explanation from Suffolk's site:

Chris, David's recommendation to read Suffolk's information is good. What could be better? Calling them and describing what kind(s) of cutting and wood you anticipate, and let them recommend the best blade(s). Their front-line customer service people are very good at figuring out what you need, and can also answer questions you're likely to have after reading the article linked by David.
I read the article but that doesn;t seem to add anything other more blade styles! Guess I'll try calling...
"Guess I'll try calling..." Do! It'll definitely help with the headache that comes from reading all that stuff, LOL.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
