I’m interested in buying a new band saw blade for resawing boards for bookmatched panels. I’m open to suggestions on the width and the tooth arrangement for resawing up to 12 inchs in height. I own a Rikon 18″ saw. Any comments will be appreciated.

Now I know where to come for my big resawing ;-)
What length ? The All-Pro's 3hook x3/4" or 2hook x1" hook will work fine. But I sure would like a brazed carbide tipped blade on my saw, but we don't carry those :-(

I need 142" blades. I haven't seen any that long where you work. Your competitors have a 15% off sale tomorrow in Bedford and I was going to go down there tomorrow because they have some Olsen blades there 3/4 and 1 inch wide in a 3T skip design.

The AllPro are the up grade version made by Olsen.

Well if you didn't go for a blade in Bedford... here's a couple ideas.
I have used highland hardware stuff, suffolk blades and lenox. I had some boards 6/4. walnut crotch that I needed to open and bookmatch as raised panel stock. The boards were about 13-16" wide. I needed something more aggresive than the woodmizer from highland.
I went for the Lenox 3/4 bi-metal 3tpi hook blade 142" for around 50-60 bucks. The best money I have spent in a year. After the resaw project worked so well, I have cut at least 1000' of thick walnut on the saw with that one blade. It is so tuff I just pulled the old black tires off the wheels and put some new urethane tires on I was so happy with this blade. Honestly its one of those things that just WORKS like a horse you hope for.
Having said that, I must caution you: it is a fairly thick blade. Its a tough working blade for milling 12/4 and 16/4 wood without any hesitation.
If you want to get into some thin veneer panels, the old highland blade will do the trick and it does a good job. It won't last very long. I've gone thru at least 6 blades in the last couple years. So it's a decision you make based on how much work you plan to do. If you want a good blade to cut a few nice sheets cherry, walnut or oak.. the highland blade is a good deal for 35-40. Like I said earlier -- limited life.
Money: The Lenox Bi-metal is the middle/high end blade. If you want the Rolls Royce for a project you just can not screw up-- get the carbide resaw blade from Lenox. Its called the Tri-Master. Man this is the top of the line. I don't have one but I just used one again a couple weeks back to cut a beautiful 13" wide piece of curly sugar maple into 1/16" veneer sheets. I cut 8 sheets that are so straight and so smooth its hard to imagine. This blade will water your eyes. So... you got some money bro? If you want to go first class, the Lenox carbide blade is the best I have ever used --hands down. I told my wife I want one for Christmas.
good luck.
for band saw blades go to BC Saw in Toronto
Timberwolf blades!! ... They're a bit pricy, but they work wonders. Also, their tech support is tops. Google either Timberwolf or Suffolk Machinery for them.

Highland Hardware makes big claims about its Woodslicer resawing blade. I bought one a couple of months ago. I don't have much experience with it, but it seems to live up to their claims. No toothmarks that I could see.
ne sutor ultra crepidam
any SHARP hook tooth blade (not too many teeth per inch). I use a 3/8 inch width; anything more is just more work to tension and untension.

I've been using Lenox Brand Carbon blades for several years now and always get good results when resawing. I've used Lenox Bi-metal blades in the past and would continue to do so but have a hard time justifying the price. I've used Timberwolf once before and IMHO feel they are way overrated for what the pricing structure is (although Lenox is getting more expensive these days too).
