I’m new to the band saw world and am wondering about the need, if any, for lubricating the blade. A few online woodworking sites sell a wax type of stick to lubricate the blade as it cuts but I have not been able to find any reference to the need for that in the few band saw books I have. Is lubrication necessary at all? And if so, under what circumstances and what’s the best product to use? Thanks.

I'm sorry for the delay, but the big storm that hit the Northeast kept me out for a couple of days. For sawing dry wood in the shop, band saw blade lubrication is a solution in search of a problem, it just isn't needed.
If you are cutting green wood, you will need a special blade to do the cut and lubrication may help. The sticks are fine, but I've seen Pam kitchen spray recommended as also working well.
