My band saw works quite well in most respects but even with a new blade I need to push my piece of wood quite firmly. Without pressure it backs the stock out rather than biting into it. Glad for any tips you can give me!

What size stock are you trying to cut with what type of a blade? Also, what size and brand of saw?

The material doesn't really matter but more pressure is needed for greater depth of cut.I'm using a Viking 1/2" blade, 3 tpi.The machine is probably unknown to you: EBAS 350 14" made by Qingdao and sold under a Swedish brand name.
