I built a nice cradle from a FWW past issue. The splindle spacing had to meet OSHA standards.
I saw a photo in FWW Issue #169 page 82 that has the spacing too wide. Of course, this could result with an infant choking.
I guess, the lesson to be learned is for all of us to do comprehensive research before building something. It seems to me that whenever I research several design options, I like the result better than jumping at the first option I see or think of. I use the local library system and the internet for most of my research.

OSHA and baby cradle spindle spacing? Occupational Safety & Health Administration would be for workers. I think it's a different organiztion that checks cradle spindles. So what is the correct spacing since you did the research????
I misspoke about OSHA.
The Consumer Product Safety Commision recommends that spacing be no more than 2.375.
Info from FWW #31.
Every 2 inches is quite common.
