I just saw this on the Classic Hand Tools website–Auriou Rasps are back in production and are available now. You can order directly from the website, or wait till January 09 for your favorite dealer to have stock again. Here’s the link to the company website.

Thanks for the post!
Great, another $500.00 out the door....
Really thanks for the info!
This is great news, I was kicking myself for not buying more of these excellent rasps while they were available... they really are a treat to use.
Grammercy Tools is also making some fine hand stitched rasps and rifflers.
You can also get hand-cut rasps from some of the former employees of Auriou through The Best Things out of Richmond VA - TBT contracted with them to produce most of the line. The website is http://www.thebestthings.com/newtools/files_rasps.htm
Seems to be a bit cheaper, and much faster (and cheaper) shipping.
Have you used the Gramercy rasps? They are hand cut, stainless made in <!----><!----><!---->Pakistan<!----><!----> and half the price of the Auriou. I’d love to know how they work. Maybe I'll try the 5" model as a trial...
I was just about to order one, so let's keep in touch on this and compare notes. The Gramercy tools in general are high quality IMO.
Lee Valley sells hand cut rasps made in the Czech Republic for around $30 each. I have a pair and they cut like silk.
Will do.
