attaching face frame to very large bookshelves
I’m building a set of bookshelves 13′ wide X 6′ high. I plan to make 5 cases roughly 31″ wide X 6′ high, paint them. bring them to the site and install them. Then I’d like to make a beaded edge 2″ face frame for the whole shebang with the Kreg jig for this and attach it to the set of cases. The process rules out clamping and I don’t want Kreg screw holes showing on the inside of the bookshelves. Seems too large to even attach the face frame all at once with glue and nails.
I don’t think it would look good to face frame them separately then screw the frames together on site like a non-custom cabinet installation.
Is this master plan impossible?? Any other solutions to get the integrated look I want?
Thanks Charlie

face frame attachment
I have attached face frames with biscuts. Clamp all the cases together in the shop and work out biscut locations and cut them. Carefully glue the biscuts only to the face frame. Dry fit on the install. You can cut off any biscuts which refuse to line up. Glue the slots and press the face frame back in tightly then pin a small nail thru the biscut to clamp it in place. Not easy but it will work.
Only other approach would be to kreg the outside of the cases which will be covered by the next case and work your way down the row. Kregs can be hidden under the bottom if there is a toekick. Kregs can be hidden on the underside of the top and covered with a 1/4 panel which you can pre-finish.
With enough people you could assemble the cases to the face frame and then mount the whole thing as a unit. Not easy if it goes wall to wall.
Appreciate greatly your very well thought out reply. Another idea came to me 4am (as usual). Believe I might size and notch all the beaded face frame pieces then attach the vertical pieces to the cases with glue and nails one at a time on site, and attach the top piece by screwing down into the verticals, through the top horizontal frame piece, from the top; then flush sand and paint.
