Hi All,
I neet to attach a small base cabinet (ony 13″ wide) onto a portion of a wall that has no stud. The walls are lathe and plaster in a 1920’s California bungalow.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
-Wes

Wes,
If you carefully probe the wall with a drill where the cabinet will cover, and locate the centers of the lathes where you would normally attach the cabinet, you should be able to screw to the lathes, being careful to just snug up the screws to not disrupt the plaster. If you know where the studs are, put the scews as close to them as you can reach, 'cause the wall will be stiffer there. If the plaster isn't very flat and plumb, you might have to shim the cabinet to keep the screws from pulling the wall.
Mike, lathe and plaster walls don't usually work well with toggles or zippits, they tend to disrupt the plaster

Wes ,
Assuming the base sits on the floor , by all means use the floor to fasten a piece of 2X4 or other wood in the recess under the cabinet then affix through the toe or base of the cabinet sides with a small screw or shoot some pins .
Also construction adhesive a dab on the wall behind as well as under the cabinet where it will contact the floor will add a tremendous amount of grip .
A couple screws through the plaster and into the lathe won't really hurt anything and along with adhesive and a or a fasten through the base will work fine ,
hope this helps dusty
Thanks guys. I went with the toggles worked great
