   Hello Planesaw,

   How are you, I bought 1 month ago a cheap 3/4" hollow mortice chisel made in China, i am disappointed in the quality off it. others where not available.
   I spend a lot of time sharpening it and making the out side face smooth for a good cutting.
   I think spending money on a good chisels is worth it, less hassle and the set up is easier.
   I can buy Japanese one's for double the price and they are muuuch better, and importantly they are sharp with minimal maintenance.

   Hope you saw the article in Woodworking Magazine regarding the various qualities and prices, where price was not a good indicator of quality.

   Morning Alan and everyone...

   There has been very little review of hollow mortise chisels to may knowledge. I would love to read the article done on them from Spring 2007 Woodworking Mag, but don't have excess to that Mag.

   Does anyone know if they have a web-site or any source to call to purchase a back-copy of that issue as again.. I would like to read the article? I just acquired a new floor model mortiser and have need for some 3/4" and beyond chisels.

   If you haven't seen this publication (same group as Popular Woodworking) I think, IMHO, you are missing one of the best.  You can buy it digitally or on paper on both.  No advertisements!!!!!!

   I think, along with Fine Woodworking, Woodworking is one of the three best mags out there.

   Thanks as I just got in from work. I definiteky want to read the article. As I stated, little attention has been directed to hollow ground mortise chisels and it's a feather in their cap to address long, over-due matter.
