Anyone Know “Powerline” brand? (BS,JTR)
hi all —
is anyone here familiar with the “Powerline” brand? — i’m curious about quality, reliability, country of origin etc.
i saw an ad for these 2 tools made by Powerline:
6″ wood jointer model wj-6p from powerline
14″ wood cutting band saw model wbs-14p from powerline”
i Googled them but i could only find listings for blades (and lots of electrical stuff, of course!).
thanks in advance —

If memory serves (and it IS the second thing to go) Powerline was Montgomery Wards line of electric tools. It goes along with the Powercraft name they used for their hand tools.
If I am correct, they would best be described with the word "undistinguished." Good enough, but not great. Light duty. Buy with care and take a close look at anything you buy.
I could be wrong, and the name could have been adopted by a low end importer after Wards' demise, so don't take my opinion as gospel.

Seems I was wrong. I just looked on the Old Woodworking Machine website and could find no reference to Powerline, and Wards used the same name (Powr-Kraft) for their stationary tools as for their hand tools.
I'd be real suspicious of the quality. I've been using for nearly 50 years and if I've never heard of them, they're not very common, at best.
