Any diff in Maikta RF 1101 and RP 1101
HI all
I am finally going to buy a router lift and a “quiet” router. I think the Makita RF 1101 (169.00) is the the quietest at 83 db and also since i am only install the motor i don’t need the RP 1101 ( 229.00 ), i think. I am thinking of using an Incra lift or Jessem. Any combo recommedation will be good but primarily i want quiet system, may be the PC 891 as it has the lift built in and can change bits above table. Once i biult it into by base, it is never going to come out. In fact i am going to out in a sound proof stand with a hinge door to cool the motor down after i finish the niosy routing.
Your kind advises will be much appreciated.

Ragman,
If you want a quiet router, I'd recommend a Stanley 55 multiplane. There is no such thing as a quiet router. That 83 db rating you mentioned for the Makita, where did you find that? I've never seen a router with a rating that low. BTW since there is no standard for measuring loudness, anything not done with specific equipment, in specific spaces is all bovine scatology anyway. I'm guessing that rating is prior to beginning a cut with just the motor running; as soon as stock is fed into it, it's going to measure close to 100 db and that is very loud.
Good luck with your purchase. For the money you're talking about, I'd have to recommend the Porter Cable PK series. I love mine.

Ragman, the Jessem Mast-R-Lift is specifically designed for the PC 7519 variable speed router motor. You can buy the complete router or just the motor but you might as well buy the complete router because the price is the same. That combination would receive my highest recommendation. There are several things that I don't like about the Porter Cable PK (kit series) and Makita's so if you are inclined to lean towards a less powerful router I would recommend the Bosch 1617 series.
Best of luck
Sincerely;

Hi tool guy appreciate your comments. I was thinking just getting the PC 892 and mounted it upside permanently in my table instead of getting a Jessem with the 7518 motor ( big bucks ). What you guys think ?
Thanks
I would recommend the Bosch 1617EVS. It is not as quiet as the Makita but close and it is well designed.
Wood Review: Top Tool-Bosch 91 db. Makita 88 db.
Fine Woodworking Review: Best Overall-Bosch 91 db. Makita 86 db.
