Anyone with experience (positive or negative) about the 3M Hi-PUR adhesive? I am looking at purchasing one to use for gluing finished panels on the sides of kitchen cabinets and eliminating brad holes which need to be filled.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

To avoid the brads, I hang the decorative side panel on loose tenons (using the Festool Domino) and construction adhesive. It's quick and easy and the panel is well supported with the glue in a secondary role.

Explain your panels. I have a Hi-PUR 3M Steinel gun and don't use it much. Found that I have to work too fast with it and that the glue sets pretty fast and goes on pretty thick to my liking. I have mostly reverted to Titebond extended time and Pin nails . The down side, refill cartridges are pretty pricey.

Hi Bruce,
The side panels are 1/4" plywood, applied to the cabinet after the face frames are finished and attached.

About two weeks ago I covered some cabinet ends with 3/16 thick hickory using the method I described, and it went very easy. The pin nails don't even show, I did bother to use colored wax to fill them but it was hardly worth the effort.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Hi Bruce,
Q: Are you using slight head brads or headless pins, and what gauge? I would think if the plywood is warped a bit (as mine sometimes gets as it may sit around for a week or two after being finished) that it would pull away from the cabinet if using a headless pin.

Used 23 gauge Pins(no heads) and glue. Another option would be contact cement. Using it as you would on formica.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I bought one and after a couple of uses, the glue tube leaked and glued itself into the gun. The gun still gets warm but not enough to melt the glue to free it up. I would return it but I have had it for several years even though I only used it a couple of times.
When I did use it found the glue to be too thick for a good glue joint and there was not enough working time to clamp it. It may be useful for gluing support blocks or other things that do not need tight fits, however, mine quite after a couple of uses.
