Today I was shoping in a local woodworking store. I noticed some 8/4 cuts offs my the door. I asked the sales guys about the wood and he said it was angel’s heart. I ask how much and he said it was $8 per cut. The cuts are about 6LF which is roughly 1.35 per foot. I could not pass it up. I bought two cuts to use as legs for ends table. My question is what wood would work well with it? Also, I got it home it is a beast to hand plane even my LN low angle jack struggles. I am open to suggestions.

Angel's Heart
I was always told it was bad ju-ju to steal an angel's heart. ;-)
For "difficult" grain, you might try the high-angle frog. (Not to be confused with an angel on high. ;-) )
Angel Heart is something new to me. I don't think it has been available until recently. It's touted as a less expensive, lighter weight alternative to ipe for exterior deck work. Moisture content may be an issue since it's often dried to 12-14%. A number of the tropicals used for exterior work have reversing grain and can be difficult to work, especially with handplanes.
